Sober Living University

Sober Living University is a recovery residence in Salina, Kansas, offering structured sober living for individuals recovering from alcohol and drug dependency. The facility provides shared sleeping and living quarters, meals, laundry facilities, Wi-Fi, access to a recovery literature library, and life skills classes and training as part of a comprehensive three-phase, 18-month program.

The community serves as a transitional program for people who have completed inpatient addiction treatment centers and for those who could not afford or access inpatient rehabilitation. Residents are encouraged to work or attend school while maintaining accountability through house rules and peer support. The facility emphasizes relapse prevention and the distinction between abstinence and sobriety, supporting residents in developing recovery lifestyle skills and addressing behaviors, emotions, and mental health alongside substance-free living.

Program requirements include active participation in a 12-step program, having a sponsor, remaining clean and sober, and adhering to all house rules. Residents are accountable to one another and support each other through peer mentoring by example. The staff and founding members, including founder Chris Schnoor, are themselves in recovery, bringing direct personal experience to the program and enabling residents to connect on a deeper level.
