Or if you want to trade in the boring chores, so you can cultivate the retirement of your dreams, we can help with that too. No matter what kind of care you need, we’re here to help you discover how to make the most of your golden years.

A Healthier Life, A Healthier You

Because we’re located in an ideal and exclusive residential neighborhood within walking distance of Lincoln Park and Lake Michigan, you can spend leisurely afternoons soaking up the sun at Belmont Harbor and admiring the view of the stately ships in the dock. When you’ve had your fill of outdoor recreation, you can retreat back to your beloved community for a relaxing evening with friends, complete with a decadent and nutritious restaurant-style meal and a variety of entertainment options to choose from.

Our residents enjoy all kinds of activities, including massage therapy sessions, woodworking, happy hours, jewelry making, drawing classes and Tuesday trivia nights. We even offer drum circles and the Great Courses for those who are inclined to stretch their minds. With so many opportunities to engage your mind and body, your greatest challenge will be narrowing down your daily schedule of events.

The Comforts of Home

Our extensive transportation services make it easy to visit all the city’s excellent shopping areas, restaurants and attractions. We’re also located conveniently close to Presence Saint Joseph Hospital and Alden Lincoln Park Rehabilitation and Health Care Center, which means you never have to worry about long trips in the event of an accident or emergency.

On campus, you can enjoy exceptional restaurant-style dining and a menu full of so many delicious choices that you’ll be counting down the minutes until your next meal. Of course, you could always hop on over to the café for a little snack to tide you over or pass the time tending your favorite plants on the garden terrace. We even have a wellness clinic, so you can keep your health front and center!

Assisted Living

Forget the cliché stories you’ve heard about seniors sitting around falling asleep to sit-com reruns. When you move into a Brookdale assisted living community, you can enjoy a life rich in quality care, genuine friendships and fun activities.

From quality dining to assistance with personal grooming and managing medication, our assisted living communities give you the chance to make the most of your golden years. We welcome and encourage new residents to get involved with activities, which change daily. You’ll also have more time to pursue your passions because we handle the mundane chores, like housekeeping and laundry.

Many of our campuses are conveniently located near restaurants, parks, shopping, hospitals, places of worship and more. Most campuses even offer transportation services, so you can enjoy the perfect combination of quality care and independence.

What is Assisted Living?

Assisted living is designed for seniors who need a little more day-to-day assistance than residents in independent living. These communities often have programs and team members in place who can provide support with everything from assistance with daily living and basic care to recreational activities and transportation.

When Is It Time for Assisted Living?

With their custom service plans, excellent amenities, and opportunities to meet new and interesting people, assisted living communities sound pretty great. Some locations even have general stores, fitness centers, and on-campus beauty and barber shops.

But how do you know when the time is right?

Everyone’s situation is different, but there are a few things you can think through if you're considering assisted living for yourself or a loved one.

What Is Life Like at an Assisted Living Community?

Each resident has their own unique passions, hobbies and interests, so life at an assisted living community looks a little different for each person.

You might want to start your day off with a yoga class before meeting your friends for a delicious breakfast in the dining room. From there, you could attend a painting workshop or tend to your favorite plants in the garden before playing a lively round of Wii bowling or going on an excursion to a local restaurant or boutique.

No matter how you want to enjoy your golden years, we will be here to handle things like cooking, cleaning and laundry, so you can spend more time doing the things you love.

Independent Living

Do you want to enjoy everything retirement has to offer without the hassle of things like mowing the lawn, cooking every meal and cleaning the house.

As an independent living resident, you can let someone else handle the chores, so you can do more of what you love. Maybe you want to spend more time on arts and crafts, learn how to play a musical instrument or attend morning yoga classes. Or you might want to join a book club, meet your friends for a resident social or go on excursions to local museums.

No matter how you want to spend your days, independent living gives you the chance to redefine what it means to be independent while enjoying an active lifestyle and pursuing your passions.

What is Independent Living?

Independent Living communities are perfect for seniors who are looking to make the most of their retirement experience but who can provide for their own needs, including activities of daily living. These communities provide a wonderful place to call home. Many of our communities are pet-friendly, so you can bring your furry friend. You'll get to enjoy on-site activities, off-site excursions, amenities such as a salon, fitness center, concierge service, and so much more!

Is Independent Living Right for Me?

Do you want to enjoy life without the burden of home upkeep and lawn maintenance? Do you wish you could spend more time doing the things you love? Do you like surrounding yourself with people who share your passions and interests?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, there’s a good chance you’ll thrive in an independent living community. You can still enjoy all the freedom and independence you want, but the hassles of ordinary life are no longer your responsibility.

There’s no better time than right now.

What Is Life Like at an Independent Living Community?

Every day at an independent living community is different.

Why?

Because you’re the one in charge of your time.

If you want to fill your day with energy and activity, you can sign up for physical fitness classes, compete in lively board game tournaments, go on excursions to local attractions, attend an educational workshop or join an on-campus club.

If you would rather enjoy a slow and leisurely day, you can savor a warm cup of coffee in your private apartment before meeting your friends for a delicious breakfast in the dining room. You can tend to your favorite plants in the garden, read a few chapters of the latest bestseller and get your hair done at the on-campus salon. And since most of our communities are pet-friendly, your favorite furry friend can tag along!

No matter how you choose to enjoy your retirement, independent living gives you the freedom to do more of the things you love. And because the staff tends to the household chores, you don't have to waste another minute on things like cooking, cleaning and folding laundry.

Life as an Independent Living Community

Find the Right Independent Living Community

Moving to an independent living community could be the start of an exciting new chapter in your life. Maybe you want to find a new zip code to call home, or maybe you want to live closer to your kids and grandchildren. No matter what part of the country you’re interested in, there’s probably a Brookdale community nearby.

Memory Care

Alzheimer's and dementia can be challenging for everyone involved, causing you to feel a range of emotions or ask yourself questions like: What's going to happen to my loved one's health But the more you know what to expect and how to prepare, the more it can make the journey feel less daunting.

You also don't have to go through this alone. If you do feel like you need outside assistance, memory care communities are a wonderful environment ideal for people with Alzheimer's and dementia. Your loved one would live in an apartment-like home with safety features, surrounded by their peers and nurturing staff members.

What Is Memory Care?

Memory care is a kind of specialized care for people living with Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia. Communities typically feature safe and secure environments where staff can closely monitor the health of the residents. You'll also find programs, activities, and events that are designed to help memory care residents work on their cognitive abilities, while also getting to enjoy passions and hobbies. Staff typically are specially trained to provide the quality care needed for seniors with memory loss.

Features of a Memory Care Community

Just because someone you love is experiencing memory loss, it doesn't mean that they should have to sacrifice their quality of life. Our residents spend their days surrounded by people who encourage them to enjoy life, experience feelings of belonging and purpose, and maintain their current skills through our daily path of engagement.

Here are just a few of the ways we help the seniors in our memory care programs make the most of this season of their lives:

A Warm and Welcoming Atmosphere

Our communities feature apartments that feel and function like a private home with bathrooms and plenty of natural light. This helps our residents feel more comfortable and at ease when they move to a community. You'll also find easy-to-navigate floor plans, areas where seniors can participate in everyday activities, and walls painted in cheerful, soothing colors.

A Secure Setting

To help keep residents safe, many of our communities keep exterior doors secured 24 hours a day, and have doorbells at the entrances and exits to monitor who comes through the building. Many locations also feature enclosed courtyards, so residents can explore the outdoors while remaining in the community.

Quality Services

Your loved one deserves to experience a full life in a place where they are well taken care of. We provide services to help do just that. Our staff handles chores such as laundry and housekeeping, while providing support throughout the day, whether it's during meals, taking medication, bathing, and more.

Person-Centered Care

Because we’re all unique, we believe in providing quality care that caters to each individual resident. Sometimes that means using a different approach for one person than we would for another. It's all with the goal of getting to know each resident for who they are and incorporating their individual needs and interests into their care plan.

Enriching Activities

As a resident, your loved one will have a full social calendar that changes regularly. Our residents stay engaged with a gentle daily structure of planned activities to help them maintain their abilities and encourage the use of their current skills. Brain games, dancing, art classes, and music programs are just a few of the ways our residents enjoy their days.

Highly-Trained Care Team

We don't just hire good people; we invest in quality training and education. Typically, our staff receives initial and ongoing training to help them keep up-to-date on the latest dementia care techniques.

What is Clare Bridge?

Clare Bridge is our exclusive brand of dementia care created more than 30 years ago. It has continually evolved as we learn more about seniors with dementia, but the goal is to provide residents with a gentle structure of six planned programs per day that help maintain their abilities and encourage them to use their current skills.

A day in the life of a Clare Bridge resident may include things like a morning cognitive workout with discussions and brain stimulating games. Residents also participate in a variety of physical activities ranging from our B-Fit program to walking groups and dancing. Having a daily, structured routine like this is a great way to help your loved one feel a sense of security knowing they are right where they need to be.

If someone you love is in the early stages of dementia, they might feel a loss of self-esteem and withdraw from social activities. Some studies have even shown that people with early stage dementia could be at a higher risk for depression, especially if they are surrounded by peers who are able to be a little more independent.

That’s where Clare Bridge Crossings comes in.

Clare Bridge Crossings was designed for seniors in the early stages of dementia. It’s a stepping stone between assisted living and memory care. Residents enjoy activities like art and dance classes, excursions to museums, journaling to explore life stories and sharing stories around the dinner table with new friends.

Solace: For Late-Stage Dementia

The Clare Bridge Solace program, which is offered in every Clare Bridge community, is designed to meet the special needs of residents in the advanced stages of dementia.

The Solace program does not replace any elements of the overall Clare Bridge daily path of life enrichment, but rather adds an extra layer of programming within the larger Clare Bridge program. Highlights of the Solace program include extra time for grooming, activities involving the senses, music and aromatherapy.
